Title: Vice President, Community Development, Real Estate and Asset Management

Job Description

The Vice President for Community Development, Real Estate and Asset Management manages a wide variety of community planning and real estate-related tasks for the organization. These include the oversight of affordable housing development, residential and commercial construction, neighborhood planning and revitalization, solar power development, and property management and maintenance for 35 GBCA owned/leased facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to neighborhood revitalization activities in redevelopment areas, to maximize opportunities through the New Jersey Neighborhood Preservation Program, Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit program, as well as in federally-designated New Market Tax Credit and Opportunities Zones.

  • Provide leadership to real estate development for affordable and special needs housing, market rate housing and neighborhood-based commercial real estate development, including the management of planning, approval, pre-development and all financing activities, as well as new project initiation.

  • Provide leadership to construction activities, both those carried out by in-house crews and those sub-contracted directly to various trades or to a general contractor. Oversee and direct construction projects from inception to completion, and ensure compliance with all grant and financing agreements and requirements.

  • Provide leadership to the management and maintenance of all properties operated by GBCA, whether owned or leased. These include schools, office buildings, community centers, training facilities and residential real estate. Ensure compliance with all applicable building, health and safety, and any other government or grant requirements.

  • Provide leadership to GBCA’s renewable energy and environmental justice initiatives. This includes general oversight of GBCA subsidiary, CAP Solar, and its related functions, with particular emphasis on the management and maintenance of solar assets owned by the company.

Requirements and Qualifications

This is a unique and challenging opportunity for a talented professional to apply well-developed management skills to a dynamic position in a successful, innovative not-for-profit community development organization. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated business management track record, ideally with significant real-estate experience, in either a for-profit or not-for-profit environment. The candidate must share values which are congruent with GBCA’s mission and should be able to articulate his/her vision for their professional growth in this context.

The candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. A master’s degree in business administration, public administration or a related field is highly desirable. Proficiency with the technologies applicable to success in this arena is also expected.
