GBCA High School Equivalency Students Graduate

TETERBORO, NJ -- Greater Bergen Community Action’s High School Equivalency (HSE) program celebrated the achievements of their 2015-2016 class with a graduation ceremony held on June 16, 2016 at the Bergen County Technical School in Teterboro. In partnership with Hackensack High School, the program provides out-of-school youth from Bergen, Hudson and Passaic counties between the ages of 16 and 24 with tuition free HSE exam preparation. This year, GBCA’s two program locations, Cliffside Park and Garfield, had a total of 91 graduates and Hackensack High School had 56. During the 2015-2016 grant year, GBCA served a total of 141 students in both locations, nearly doubling the number of students from the previous year.

Funding for the HSE program comes through the Bergen County One-Stop Career Center and the program gives students an individualized learning system based on their needs and offers an open enrollment system that allows students to learn at their own pace. The program not only helps students prepare for the HSE exam, it also helps them plan for life post-graduation and teaches them skills to help them be self-sufficient.

Bergen, Hudson, and Passaic county residents between the ages of 16 and 24 years old who are interested in the HSE program can call 973-684-0005 ext. 1050 or visit www.greaterbergen.org/adult-education for more information
