HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J.—On Thursday, December 1, 2016, Greater Bergen Community Action, Inc. (GBCA) received a $5,000 grant from Eastern Bergen County Board of REALTORS Care Foundation to assist with pre-purchase housing counseling. The grant will help fund GBCA’s endeavors in offering housing counseling to six low-income first time homebuyers in Bergen County and Jersey City. GBCA already offers an array of programs and services aimed at helping individuals and families gain self-sufficiency in their financial lives through financial literacy and housing counseling.
GBCA is a HUD-Approved Housing Counseling Agency and is equipped to provide counseling on topics such as understanding credit reports, money management and taking the right steps to purchasing a home. GBCA’s team of certified credit counselors work with individuals on a one-to-one basis to address their specific issues. Individuals receive assistance in navigating the complicated process of purchasing a home and how to avoid the many pitfalls that can ultimately result in default or foreclosure.
GBCA’s mission is to reduce poverty in communities served by GBCA by addressing the causes and conditions of persistent economic insecurity. Eastern Bergen County Board of Realtors Care Foundation’s grant will continue to help push GBCA’s mission to bring individuals to self-sufficiency.
