Financial Literacy Educator

 

Title: Financial Literacy Educator 

 

Reports to: Director of Financial Assistance and Residential Services

 

FLSA: Per Diem/Non-exempt

 

Position Summary:

Provide financial literacy counseling to individuals and groups of low income persons.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide both workshops and individual counseling in areas of financial literacy education.

  • Assess clients’ financial situation and assist client in developing a budget and setting financial goals.

  • Develop a written plan that supports the course of action aimed at motivating the individual to implement the established plan.

  • Maintain relevant records including progress notes, documentation of meetings and program outcomes.

  • Ensure timely reporting to funders.

  • Provide clients with information and referrals to other appropriate services offered by Greater Bergen Community Action, Inc. or other organizations within the community.

  • Respect client confidentiality.

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by division director

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (Business Marketing/ Social Work/ Education/or Finance) and a year of experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • NFCC (National Foundation for Credit Counselors) or other credit counseling certification preferred, the ability to become certified and/or equivalent experience in the field

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

 

Skills:

  • High energy, enthusiastic person.

  • Must be comfortable presenting in front of groups.

  • Sensitive in dealing with diverse populations.

  • Comfortable utilizing technology.

  • Must be able to travel between sites.

  • Some evening/weekend hours may be required.

  • Previous teaching experience preferred.

  • Spanish speaking/multi-lingual preferred

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

Salary is based on education and experience.
