Greater Bergen Community Action, Inc. is selected by the Federal Government as the Head Start and Ea


The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families has selected Greater Bergen Community Action to operate the Head Start and Early Head Start Programs in the City of Paterson and Borough of Prospect Park, NJ starting July 1st through a competitive grant proposal process.

Children from birth to age 5 and pregnant women are currently being enrolled in this center-based early childhood development program. A total of 715 income-eligible families will be served at the following three locations in Paterson: Eastside Cecile Dickey Center, 500 E. 35th St. and the Westside Center, 265 Totowa Ave.

Head Start programs provide comprehensive services to enrolled children and their families, which includes education, health, nutrition, social services and other services determined to be necessary by family needs assessments. Head Start services are designed to be responsive to each child and family ethnic, cultural and linguistic heritage.

Greater Bergen Community Action, Inc. (formerly Bergen Country Community Action Partnership, Inc.) is pleased to expand its successful Head Start/Early Head Start Program model serving over 500 families in Bergen to a total of more than 1,200 families in both Bergen and Passaic Countries.
