Boost the Block Party RESCHEDULED for 9/28

GBCA’s Inaugural Boost the Block Party Postponed to New Date

HACKENSACK, NJ – Due to inclement weather, Greater Bergen Community Action (GBCA) regrets to announce the postponement of the highly anticipated Boost the Block Party to September 28, 2023 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 260 Central Avenue, Hackensack, NJ.

Despite the new date, The Boost the Block Party will still unveil two new community programs by GBCA – the Immigrant Resource Center and the Healthy Homes Initiative.

The Immigrant Resource Center is designed to support immigrants, regardless of their status, from Bergen, Passaic, and Hudson Counties through case management, legal consultations, referrals, and more. All services are free.

The Healthy Homes Initiative is dedicated to educating Bergen and Passaic County residents on household hazards such as lead, mold, asbestos, radon, and more. This program offers financial assistance to implement necessary mitigation efforts, making housing units healthier and safer for families.

The Boost the Block Party will include complimentary food, children’s activities, exciting raffle prizes, a sustainable art installation, and more. This event will also offer a wide array of resources from community organizations like 1st Bergen Federal Credit Union, CAFE Hub, Amerigroup, Bergen Volunteer Medical Initiative (BVMI), Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, Buddies of NJ, Center for Food Action, CBH Care, Northern New Jersey Community Foundation, and Planned Parenthood.

Community members can take advantage of valuable services such as healthy home assessments, immigrant resources, preschool enrollment assistance, nutritious snack packs for families, voter registration, healthcare for the uninsured, HIV and STI testing, financial literacy counseling, banking options, and more.

Greater Bergen Community Action is committed to changing the lives of individuals and families in our community. The Boost the Block Party is an opportunity for the community to engage with one another, access essential resources, and establish meaningful connections.
