Jersey City, NJ – Greater Bergen Community Action, Inc. (GBCA) is pleased to announce that its Lincoln Park Head Start and Early Head Start Center in Jersey City has achieved accreditation by The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The NAEYC is a professional membership organization that works to promote high-quality early learning for all young children, from birth through age 8, by connecting early childhood practice, policy, and research. NAEYC accreditation is not easily attained, and according to Barbara Willer, Senior Advisor of NAEYC, only 6% of early childhood programs in the United States are accredited.
As an NAEYC-accredited early learning program, parents can expect high-quality learning and development at GBCA Jersey City Head Start schools, as the programs are privy to resources and information that adhere to early learning best practices to ensure students’ school readiness and success, and also ensures that teaching staff and administrators have access to and utilize the latest research.
The NAEYC accreditation decisions are based on scores for the following standards:
Relationships
Curriculum
Teaching
Assessment of Child Progress
Health
Teachers
Families and Community Relationships
Physical Environment
Leadership and Management
With an NAEYC-accreditation, GBCA’s Jersey City Head Start programs are joining a community invested in ensuring quality early learning opportunities for young children and their families through various resources that create a web of support and connectivity, ultimately enhancing the agency’s educational offerings and community ties.
