SERVICES

Affordable housing is provided in the following locations. Rent is 30% of annual income, based on the number of heads of house hold per family: PLEASE NOTE: 29-49 Broadway's application is now open. We are currently not accepting applications for 640 American Legion Drive.

Permanent housing for single room occupants is provided in the following locations. Rent is $500 per month: 

  • Independence Hall, 89 James Street, Englewood, NJ

Transitional housing for women is provided in the following locations:

  • Shepard House, 38 West Demarest Ave., Englewood, NJ

OVERVIEW

Community Housing in Partnership (CHIP), founded in 1989, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, certified by the State of New Jersey as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO).

 

CHIP provides affordable housing for low and moderate income persons, first-time homebuyers, and individuals with special needs by constructing and renovating residences for multiple dwelling unit rentals and for single family ownership.

Greater Bergen Community Action

CHIP’s accomplishments include: 

  • Construction and management of rental housing and home-ownership programs

  • The development of Single-room Occupancy (SRO) residences

  • Management of transitional apartments

 

Working with outstanding architects and engineers, CHIP enables communities to participate in the creation of designs that are consistent with neighborhood characteristics and the desires of residents.

CHIP has leveraged over $12 million from 15 separate private sector and public sources in creating over 140 units of affordable housing.

  • Completed Application View Application for American Legion Drive View Application for Broadway

  • Proof of Income. This can be 4 Recent Paystubs, Public Assistance Award Letter, Social Security Award Letter, Child Support, Pension, Unemployment, Verification of Assets or any type of income.

  • Social Security Cards and Birth Certificates for everyone in the household

  • Photo ID for anyone over the age of 18

  • If self-employed, attach a profit and loss statement for the past quarter and balance sheet showing year-to-date earnings prepared by your accountant (If applicable)

  • Full-time Students must submit school schedule (If applicable)

 

Document Checklist for Independence Hall, 89 James Street, Englewood, NJ

  • Completed application View Application for Independence Hall

  • Proof of Income- 8 Consecutive Pay-stubs if you get paid weekly or 4 if you get paid biweekly, Social Security Award Letter, Disability Award Letter, or any form of income you receive

  • Photo ID

  • Birth Certificate

  • Social Security Card

  • Verification of Disability

  • Latest IRS Tax Return

  • The last six months of bank statements for all accounts.

  • Proof of Income- 4 Consecutive Pay-stubs, Social Security Award Letter, Disability Award Letter, or any form of income you receive

  • Photo ID

  • Birth Certificate

  • Social Security Card

 

Please note, a waiting list is maintained for all properties. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
